About Ashley L. Schick

Ashley L. Schick makes works on paper and artists’ books. The daughter of a biology teacher and an electrical engineer, her work mixes the biological and the industrial.

Schick has an MFA in Printmaking. Schick was an artist’s assistant to sculptor Brian Dettmer and a two-year resident in the Creatives Project’s Studio Residency Program. She also worked as the lead printer and constructor for Kiki Smith’s artist book Color Noise. Schick has taught many art and STEAM workshops for students of all ages from children to adults at the High Museum of Art, Georgia Tech, SCAD, Atlanta Printmakers Studio, and the Lovett School. She has completed studio time at Haystack in Maine, the UF Paris Research Center in France, the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ireland, and at the Skopelos Foundation in Greece.

Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in multiple private and university collections including Vanderbilt, University of Florida, SCAD, the Pascal Fouché Flipbook Collection, and Baylor University. Her artist’s books have been featured in 500 Paper Objects from Lark Books and 1000 Artists’ Books: Exploring the Book as Art from Quarry Books. Her book, Making Virtual Reality a Reality, co-authored with Alison Valk and Ximin Mi, was published by Bloomsbury/ABC-CLIO in the summer of 2023.
